We are doing our first trip with the kids this June on the 2-9th. This forum has been so helpful with tips for the kiddos. I've found lots of helpful info. Going with hubby and son (6) and sister in law and her hubby and their kids (7 and 12). I'm sure fun will be had by all. This will be our 4th trip to STJ.
We normally go in October so this is the first time we will be there during the summer months. Just wondering if anyone has an experience on the differences between the two time frames for example if it is busier and harder to park in June compared to Oct and that sort of thing. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated. I've promised myself I will try to do a trip report this time. I've been a long time lurker. Love the forum!
Also interested if anyone else is going to be there the same time or if anyone has a forum get together goin on! Thanks for all the great info! :D

The biggest difference I've seen is that the water is bit cooler. You'll see a few more families with school age kids, but nothing like Spring Break or Christmas. The kids will love it!

We'll be on STJ 5/31-6/7, our son is 3 and daughter is 6. We're traveling with my brother, sister-in-law and their 3 kids (25,23,19 and my nieces boyfriend).

Dont know where you are staying but even if you are staying in a villa, be sure to check out which nights, if any, that the Westin has their "Dive- In Movies" at the pool. Whenever we go in the summer , regardless of where we are staying, we always take the kids down and have them enjoy a night or two. They usually have free popcorn and the bar is open for drinks. You dont have to be staying there to enjoy the evening.
We have gone twice in August and the weather was even nicer than May or November. Warm breezes, less rain and no north shore swell.
Although we traveled to St John in January of this year, we are toying with the idea of a last minute surprise for the kids this August. Cant make it work yet, but still hoping. The discounts on the villas this year are hard to beat.

Pia, I remember talking with you on the forum last yr and you saying you were coming to KC to do some shopping on the Plaza. Such a big move from KC to STJ!!
Maybe we will get to meet you when we are there in June. We'll try to stop by your new job!!

Knolmom, Thanks for the tip on the Westin movies. We are staying in a villa close to the Westin and we are planning on taking the kids to the crab race at the Westin on Sun. We will have to check and see when they are doing the movie. Sounds like fun!

June is my favorite time to go. It may rain a little more, but it never ruined a whole day. I think the diving and snorkeling are better in the summer than the fall.

Tam-MO:

We just got back from St. John w/ 3 kids - 4, 9 and 11. I wanted to tell anyone going with kids to not rule out a charter to the BVI's. Our group had the time of their lives and the kids went nuts, especially having lunch (and jumping off) the 'pirate ship' (the Willy T).
