Delta Carry-On question

Help....my fins won't fit in my carry-on :? Renting fins isn't a viable option for me. I have a mesh snorkel "backpack" and was wondering if that could be my "personal" item. It seems like I read here on the forum that others have done that. I just don't want to have to check a bag and I certainly don't want any grief from the gate agents.

we've done that with chairs with no problem (and also with fins) that was on AA, but I cannot imagine delta would give you a hard time about it....well, i could imagine, but let's not go there....I am sure it will be fine!

A snorkel backpack IS my "personal item" on Delta. Done it for the last three trips. It might be safer to not dismount and store it in the overhead in front of the flight attendant. We can really make good time through ATL that way. Two sets of snorkel gear just about fill it up. I purchased mine years ago from Scuba.com.

Thanks Guys! I feel better now. Last year we flew Spirit and they have a more liberal carry-on size policy. However, when the flight attendant told me it would be $20 to use the bathroom, I said 'no mas' (just kidding) :D I'm sure that will soon come.
