Trip insurance and the recent volcano

Read a small item that some trip insurance companies were claiming the “act of God” defense to deny claims while others were paying up to $250/day to compensate folks who were stuck in Europe or here in the USA during the recent volcano mess that stranded thousands.
I would encourage those who have knowledge of or sees any articles here or over in Europe to post the names of who did what in this situation to guide our decisions about who to give our business to in the future. Thanks!
