We are going down to STJ again in May. Our rental agency has gone the extra mile on two fronts and thought I would share. We are renting a house that we have rented a couple of times before. It's a pretty inexpensive rental by STJ standards, and by luck, we are renting it this time at 20% off of the off season price. A couple of times in the past the rental agency gave out small, promotional soft coolers that were a great size for a few beers and some ice. So the other day I emailed Kay at Windspree to inquire if they still did that, and also if the villa had a stereo with an iPod dock . The answer regarding the cooler was, usually, but the supplier was sometimes having some hassle getting them, but she'd try to dig one up for us.
Okay, now for the real extra mile. She emailed me yesterday and informed me that she found a cooler for us, and they're buying a stereo with an iPod dock for the villa. You gotta love it!

Now THAT's customer service!

We have had similar "above and beyond" service from several agencies at various villas over the nearly 20 years that we've been going to STJ. Kathy McLaughlin at Island Getaways gives that kind of service each and every time. I think the Terry Witham really went way above and beyond for us on several occasions when we stayed at Summer Wind (where she provided a special shower head and tub for our little granddaughter as well as a large cutting board and a toaster oven). Terry went above and beyond for us when we stayed at Sunnyledge as well. I really can't say I've ever had a bad experience with any of the on-island agencies that we've dealt with over the years but these two stand out as exceptional. It's another reason that we love St. John. The people are really wonderful.
