Don't understimate the barriers of no resort/all-inclusive hotels. If people have to use more than Expedia to book a vacation they don't know what to do.
Cheers, RickG

Very true Rick,
I thought that you could only camp on STJ when I first started reading travel magazines.

Sea-nile & RickG - You CAN only camp on STJ, right?
There are no hotels. The moquitos are horrible. The locals are just mean. No shopping. NO GOOD BARS. No famous people (I heard Kenny moved). And the beaches, don't even get me started on how rough the water is.

The water is so dirty and not blue like other islands.

Grommie --- Get a strong cup of coffee and start at the beginning, it will all make sense. We were being a little tongue in cheek and managed to confuse you.
Is it too early in the am for you?

Got the tongue in cheek stuff -- but Rick's last comment didn't make sense to me.
Sorry it's the peroxide and the fact that I haven't had my sugar free Red Bull yet this AM.
Maybe it's the 17 degree F temps outside and my brain has frozen solid-- who knows?

Check the Island-O-Matic section of the article where there is a chart listing the amenities available on each of the islands. For St. John,"Beaches","Nature" & "Families" are starred as "Best of the Islands". Naturally, I agree. But there is also a column for golfing, and St. John rates a check mark for that. Did I miss something, or are they counting the miniature golf at Pastory Gardens? I can just picture the semi-pros stepping off the ferry in Cruz Bay with their golf bags asking the cabbies to take them to the nearest golf course...
