A Romantic Moment

Two weeks ago, after first talking to her father, my son proposed to his long time girlfriend. He rented a cabin at Blackwater Falls in WV for the weekend. as it is a special place for them. Saturday morning he got up very early and hiked through the woods and up a hill and then climbed up this bridge and hung the big question. Then she awoke they went to the main viewing area of the falls and he looked up to the bridge and asked her, "What's that up on that bridge?"
He gave her a pair of binoculars for her to see if she could make out what it said. While she was looking, he got behind her on one knee. Meanwhile some strangers walked up on them and saw what was happening, saw her camera on the bench, and started snapping pictures.

Here's some shots of the big occasion:

The sign:

The Culprit [actually he's removing the sign]

Romance - love it - often seems a little rare these days. Talking to her father first shows traditional respect - a nice addition to the fun scheme.

Can see the love in those smiling faces. How wonderful that someone caught this play in time for them.

Neither will ever forget how special that morning was.

Proud Papa - thanks for sharing.

(I have some good Blackwater memories.)

Oh, how romantic. So fine that your son did all this to make it to a special moment. I presume she said YES, YES :D

I was telling someone last week about how I proposed to my wife in the kitchen of my parents' house. I'd planned a big thing to do it in NYC at The Rainbow Room before going to a show, but the mood hit me the night before and I decided (while shaking with fear) to just do it. Fear not because I thought she'd say no, fear because I was all of 19 at the time and was in "Holy Crap!" mode.

I'm happy for all of you. Thanks for including the rest of us.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
