the Friends' house tour - what an experience!

I forgot to include information about one of the most interesting activities we participated in while on vacation.

The Friends of the VI National Park presented a seminar relating to Architecture of St John that focused on island homes designed by Rob Crane, an island architect.

We visited two spectacular private (not on the rental market) homes. The architect talked about the design process, the owner's ideas about their island dream homes, and the challenges of building on St. John.

At the second house, the owners were at home. They seemed so excited to share their home and love of the island.

It was a great way to spend the morning. Well worth the two hour time commitment and the $25 cost. I had recently joined the Friends when I purchased the national park anniversary DVD. I glanced at the schedule of events and the house tour jumped out at me.

If this event was representative of the Friends general operations, it is an organization well-worth supporting.
