Cottage suggestions: November 27-December 4

Just booked our flights last week. Got a great price for 2 on Delta from DCA: $525! (IMO)

Now looking for our lodging. Prefer staying on Coral Bay side. My favorite snorkeling spot is Waterlemon and we would love to spend more time on the Coral Bay end of the island. Renting a jeep.

Would like to spend no more that $1500 but less is even better. Wish we could do Honeymoon Cottage. Love the location and views.

So far I'm leaning most towards Simply St. John. Like the views and the hot tub. Anyone know this place. They also have a kayak.

Other places: We don't plan on spending much time there except in the evenings before and after dinner. (will be eating dinner's out) Hot tub would be great. Views are appreciated.

Any other suggestions? Recommendations?
I know we're early in planning but don't want to be locked out of the perfect place because someone else booked.

Thanks in advance!!

Romance is great (Jay and Mary are wonderful people) Sago and Windwardside do get wonderful reviews but I have not seen them in person but I will add, there is no way Ricks is an easy walk to Maho - if you are an olympic runner maybe but not carrying towels, cooler, chairs etc - think from the Smoothie stand down that hill - it's an easy 3/4 mile (I keep meaning to clock it) Have you checked Wintermoon - I can't post a link as the internet is doing strange things this am.
You also posted this on the other forum but different villas - maybe you can post them here as well so you will get more feedback than posting 4 on this forum and 4 over there :)

The other ones I was considering are:

Just Enough, Coral Dreams, and Stonegarden Cottage.

I've stayed in Sago & Just Enough and my inlaws have stayed in Windwardside.

WWS & Sago are both on Calabash Boom with the best views on island as far as I'm concerned. You look out to the East End then out to the BVI's- the entire horizon is full of islands!

WWS & Sago are both owned by the same people, are clean, clean clean and cute, cute, cute. No luxury here but hottubs, outdoor showers and lotsa island cottage charm!

WWS has two cottages on one property that can be rented together but are also fairly private from one another- sharing only a driveway from what I understand.

Sago would be the number one place we've ever stayed on the island but for one thing- the bed is a bit too somehting for us. We couldn't quie out our finfer on it but our backs were sore by the end of the week. OR, maybe it was the drive up and down the Boom. It's pretty high up, this the gorgeous views and there's at least 4 switchbacks and the road is really bumpy.

I almost forgot, Sago has many cats hanging around. It's a good thing. Cats keep away other things. Most of the cats are feral so you only see them if you put food out for them. There were a couple friendly ones that we hung out with- we are animal people- but otherwise, they were not bother at all.

Just Enough is a wee bit nicer than "cottage" but it's still a cottage. Lotsa polsihed wood, lotsa handcrafted stuff, a really nice cottage. It's really close to the Coral Bay triangle too so it was uber convenient to Donkey Diner, Love Cite, Skinny's etc but still very private.

JE has wrap around porches on both levels and is at tree level in the front so feels like you're in a tree house. We loved the futon couch in the living area cuz you can really stretch out and enjoy the view and a book while lazing away a villa gravity day. The bed was big and comfy.

JE also has a con- the cottage is @ 40-50 steps down from the driveway. We are NOT in shape so it was a good workout :) and didn't deter our enjoyment of the cottage.

JE also has many, many banaquits birds who wait for their morning sugarbowl breakfast. If birds freak you out, this might not be the cottage for you. Also, the lower level has the living area-kitchen while the second floor has the bathroom-bedroom and they are connected by an outdoor stairway.

To sum up- we preferred the location of JE cuz it was closer the the triangle, but we loved Sago for it's quiet-privte-great viewness. To be honest, you can't go wrong with either choice.

I'm a Luna Vista devotee. There are reviews on the forum or send me a pm if you'd like some specifics.

We have stayed at Rick’s and found it very nice. Place has amazing views of Coral Bay and superbly located right in the middle of the island – on intersection of Centerline Road and North-Shore Road by the Smoothie’s stand. We did walk to Coral Bay and further, but we are athletic and did it just for a day before we got our Jeep – not a big deal, but it takes that precious time that you can spend on the beach. Rick’s place is not luxurious, but has everything you need for great stay – King-size feather bed, hot shower, small kitchen, outdoor bathtub and pool (we never used them). Rick is a very nice person; he picked us up at the ferry and drove to his place.

Thanks Vichuga - I had not read any reviews on Rick's so it is great to hear a first hand review - sounds great :)
I just wish he would remove the "Pristine Maho Bay is the nearest swimming beach within easy walking distance" from the VRBO site or at least clarify what "easy walking distance" means (ie: up a huge hill for about 1 mile with no sidewalk) as to me easy walking distance would mean flat and about 3 mins - tops :)

I have been studying up this morning. It is now a three way tie between:

Luna Vista: location is good access point to Waterlemon as well as Coral Bay, splash pool vs. hot tub; extra bedroom in case we decide to invite some friends to join us on the trip; Wi-fi;

Windwardside Cottage: looks like a very clean property, like the location near Callabash Boom; hot tub and garden shower; worried kitchenette may be too small; GREAT views

and Simply St. John: great location, can walk to Skinny Legs, hot tub, GREAT views; kayak available; no reviews from anyone though

Anyone every hear anything about Simply St. John?
