Today's Daily News has an article about the NPS closing Hurricane Hole to all commercial business using the NPS moorings - they state a kayak, a sailboat and a charterboat will be affected by the enforcement of laws already on the books - and also say although they are in favor of these businesses bringing visitors to an area they do not provide services to but they are going to enforce the laws while they undertake a study that will be about 2 years in the doing.
Perhaps someone more computer friendly than I am can post a link to the Daily News article that will explain it fully.

This makes it pretty much impossible for a tourist to go to hurricane hole unless they know someone with a private boat or rent one with out a captain. I can not believe the superintendent thinks that "other southshore spots" have anything to do with Hurricane Hole. Has he never been boating? From Coral Bay you have to round Ram Head, and anyone who has done that with us will tell you it can be quite rough, even on a huge ocean going vessel like Breath. Oh well, preservation is better even it hurts our business right?
