Virgin Grand Estates (Chill family - can you help?)

We have narrowed our villa choices down to five - and four are in Virgin Grand Estates. How do we decide???? There is not a big difference in the rates (between three couples) and they all look beautiful! All of them have great reviews. Maybe one has a better view than the rest? I know that Ben and Lynn Chill have stayed in VGE several times - maybe they can chime in???

These are the five we like - in order of rate (lowest to highest):

Cocotier
Indigo
Abrigado
South Palm
Casa de Sonadores

We welcome any suggestions.

Thanks.

Don't get around here much anymore, but have to say that we stayed at South Palm our only time on St John (2 years ago) and absolutely loved it. The views and sunsets were great, and the villa is perfect for 3 couples. Each can have an almost identical room on 3 different levels ... as much or a little privacy as you want. I'll have to check through some old emails and see if I can find what I've told others about it. Good luck with the decision making ... we're just in the process of booking Villa Arc du Soleil for our 20th anniversary in 2011.

We've stayed at Cocotier and Casa de Sonadores. Casa de Sonadores is the nicest villa I've ever stayed - the nicest house I've ever been in! Both have an accessible room on the first floor. Casa de Sonadores has indoor hallway access to all bedroom and a huge comfortable great room, the only one I've ever really used. All of the houses in VGE have great sunset views and the twinkling lights of St. Thomas in the difference. Casa de Sonadores has enough parking for a party!

Cheers, RickG

Ditto everything RickG said. We stayed at Sonadores late Feb/early March.

Did you consider Rapture in Virgin Grand Estates when making your list? It's fabulous. Post something if you're interested in hearing more.

Yes, we did look at Rapture but it didn't make the cut. :D It's a little out of our price range.

Thanks for the suggestion.

jdw,

Abrigado is a GREAT villa! However, there are two masters that have great views and are stacked on over the other. The other two are in the 'back' of the house and don't have gorgeous views (or any view at all) and they have twin full beds. SO, for equality amongst the three couples, I'd rule it out. We had 3 couples and my brother and his fiance were in one of the 'back' bedrooms and acted like sports while we were there but requested that we not stay there again because of the inequality.

Good luck!
Nancy

I stayed at Cocotier a few years back. Really nice villa.

Wonderful unobstructed views, decent sized pool with unobstructed views, great for a sunset dip!

There's also a covered portion of the deck which was great for sitting outside during short rainstorms or getting out of thet hot afternoon sun.

Hubby and I stayed in a bedroom that was on a upper level from the pool- big room, best mattress I've ever slept on and our own private balcony!

There was a hottub too I beleive.
