Pia thanks! That was hysterical  , but so terribly sad. What a waste of the Military Officer's time.

OMG that was truly frightening, who the heck elected that idiot! I give major props to the witness for not just bursting out laughing, but maybe he should have.

OMG...I really do need to lose weight before we come in two months! I would hate to be the one responsible for tipping over the island.

Well, I for one, have been tipped over by the island a few times.....
Pia, thanks for sharing that one! It does make me a little more apathetic then I already was though. Truly scary!

Pia - Thnx for the share...it was a good laugh, albeit a sad laugh, but a laugh nonetheless. :D

Was that the guy who wanted to know how the islands were "anchored" so they don't float away ;-)

I am honestly not trying to turn this into a political thing. I wanted to see how he wormed his way out of this and found this:

Moments after the meeting adjourned, Rep. Johnson's staff went on crisis alert. A hurried clarification was quickly issued. "I wasn’t suggesting that the island of Guam would literally tip over," said a news release from the embarrassed politician.

“I was using a metaphor to say that with the addition of 8,000 Marines and their dependents – an additional 80,000 people during peak construction to the port on the tiny island with a population of 180,000 – could be a tipping point which would adversely affect the island’s fragile ecosystem and over burden its already overstressed infrastructure."

- yeah Right!

I guess in the future we will have to use an even/odd system for visiting Trunk Bay...Mon/Wed/Fri- Even license plates...Thu/Sat/Sun-Odd license plates...Let the cruise crowd have it on Tuesdays...wouldn't want the island to tip over...

I heard from a famous conservative radio host that Rep. Johnson is very ill and that blurs his thinking at times. The host would not criticize Rep. Johnson, but I think if that is true then the Rep. needs to retire.
