Don't be grossed out, but someone in our party would like to get some "good" cigars. I know. I know. Does anyone know where to get some? Thanks.

If by "good" you mean Cuban, only buy from a Habanos authorized dealer. Otherwise, you can pretty much bet that you're buying fakes. They may be made in Cuba, but they're more than likely not what the band says they are. There are now many higher grade cigars made outside of Cuba (quality control issues) than they are made inside the country.

You can get them at the cigar store in Mongoose.

Is the cigar store still there in Mongoose Junction? Last year when were there in June it was gone.

My husband always brings his own but you can get cigars at Sparky's and I think at Jolly Dog at Skinny's. Like I said, DH brings his own.

I thought that cigar place in Mongoose closed?

Hubby likes to smoke good cigars on vacay but has found over the years that on-island prices are pretty ridiculous for what you get.

He usually purchases good cigars on-line before we leave and he brings them down with him. (He has a special pelican travel case).

Given the high humidity he finds that once he gets on island they do not dry out and hold up very well so no special maintenance is required but you do need to store them appropriately for the flight down as this can dry them out. There are special bags you can buy at cigar stores if you don't want to invest in a travel case.

It's been a while but there was a cigar place on STT that we would visit occasionally. But again the prices were outrageous.

My advice: Buy on-line (heck even Costco has a good selection from time to time!) and take them down with you.

@Bev-- I have been known to smoke a stogie now and then too!!

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar...
