Day 6: St. Pattys on St. John, Lameshur, Tourist Trap & Donkey Diner Pizza!
It's already Wednesday! How in the world is this week flying by so fast. Like Randy said, its all slow going until you start counting the days you have left and then its over in a flash! HATE THAT.
Our original plan had been to head to Cruz Bay and see the St. Patrick's Day parade because well we'd seen pictures in the past and honestly it looked like it would be some good people watching. Unfortunately, as we'd found out from Ruth the day prior, they had the parade the previous Saturday!
Instead we decided to hit Lameshur with a Tourist Trap chaser.
Lameshur was another first for me. We had ventured past Salt Pond onto the Lameshur road before but never followed it all the way down or spent a day on the beach. For some reason I thought it was rocky. Um. No. It is beautiful.

Again, we thought going quite a bit off the beaten path would leave us with a quieter beach, and again, while a lot less busy than a popular North Shore beach, it was busy...for Lameshur.

The entry can be a little rocky, but nothing we couldn't handle.

Another day HEAVY on pictures and light on words. We just mellowed the day away.

I took a walk up to check out the ruins. Very short walk up a very short hill.
The path up to the ruins, no I didn't wear shoes. It was fine.

Enough exploring. Time to head back to the beach to do more of what I do best.....chilllax!

Ok so I guess this end of the beach is pretty rocky!

Mongoose Sighting

Soon we had enough of beaching for the time being, so we packed up and headed to Tourist Trap to visit with Larry!
Time for a Drink Left, Keep Right. And the resulting slurpie headache!

I love The Tourist Trap!

Being as it was St. Patty's Day the specials included corned beef and cabbage. None of us were brave enough, but LMG had mastered the Gaelic phrase of the day and won herself a free drink. I'll let her tell you the highbrow phrase she added to her vocabulary! Somehow in the deal I ended up with a free drink too! It's good to travel with LMG.
I love the Tourist Trap. It is on the left not too long before you get to the Salt Pond lot. Perfect for a post-Salt Pond or Lameshur late lunch. Larry is the sweetest guy and an awesome cook. Everything is homemade on site in a tiny "kitchen" and the drinks are great. He is the originator of the Drink Right, Keep Left and just generally an awesome guy!
We started with the nachos to share. YUM. Sorry no picture!
I had the grouper taco. DELICIOUS!

My mama had the lobster roll.

I think LMG had the homemade meatball sub. Also, declared delish!
And of course we had a couple of Drink Right, Keep Lefts

And a few Boom-Booms - banana, cruzan creme, and other stuff. Mmmmmmm good!
Ok, so eventually we decided to stop harrassing Larry and his crew and move along.
Back to the house to chill with the pups and have a little mango pale ale on the deck. LOVE this beer! Nothing about this sucks!

Feeling slimy from the day, we all took time to clean up and then proceeded to become kind of like jello on the deck. What a perfect day. That is the thing about St. John for me. No two days are ever the same, but they are always perfect in their own way!
So we chatted and read and listened to music and eventually my belly grumbled and not feeling particularly motivated we decided on take-out pizza from the Donkey Diner!
I called in the Pizza (green pepper, onion and bacon) and headed down to pick it up. Somehow in the process, I managed to misplace my wallet. We got to the Donkey Diner and I reached in my pocket to pull out my little wallet and instead found my iphone. Oooooops.
I recommend if you are going to "misplace" your wallet ever, you do it with LMG around. That girl is a RELENTLESS searcher. We searched the car and the parking lot at Donkey Diner before deciding it surely must be at the house. Headed back to the hosue and searched the driveway, the house, the deck, the car again. Nada. I bummed $20 off my mama (thanks mom
)and headed back to at least get the pizza. You gotta eat, right?
Man, I was seriously stressing but also thinking, it had to be there SOMEWHERE. I knew I had grabbed it out of my bag on the way out to the donkey diner. I knew I had gotten the clothes out of the dryer, so I searched all around there. Nothing. Then as if MAGIC, it appeared on the rail next to the laundry room! Ahhhhhh...back to relaxation mode.
Back on the deck, enjoyed another VI Mango ale and had a couple of slices of pizza. Perfect ending to a perfect day!
Tomorrow: Ram Head, Honeymoon, and Aqua Bistro with Rev. Raven!
