I am just laughing because I have been on the forum a bunch lately. It seems to correlate with the possibility of getting to go...we are thinking of going for it. Your trip reports have been helping.

Mr. DJmom is gone now all week almost every week. It has not been easy adjusting, especially this week. We are thinking why are we putting ourselves through this.

Do we plan a trip or do we get the scenic view vs. the parking lot in our nursing home?

I have heard and I believe to be true:

Plan ahead. (Adjustment may become necessary.)
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. (You may trip.)
Life is short.
Change happens in a blink.
Live in the moment.

We are a lot closer to that nursing home... just hoping that it will have the basics... the memories may have to be the luxuries, but I will have them with me (just hoping that I can remember them!)

I am getting old........

Take the trip! Those memories might become medication induced flashbacks when you are in the nursing home. Two "trips" for the price of 1!

Go fot it. If have to, do it on a budget but go.
And if while in the nursing home, can't remember where you went, there's always pictures to look at.

You know, when we would visit my grandmother we would notice that the older people who have the memory loss seem to be mentally "stuck" either in a happy place or a not-so-happy place. Either extremely pleasant, or just really upset about lost things, violent, etc...

Maybe with some continued trips we could be mentally "stuck" in St. John.

I knew I went to the right place with this question because you gave me the answer I wanted to hear!

Need ticker....

I know too many people that planned for the scenic view at the nursing home and never even made it to the parking lot.

Do it now!

My husband has had some serious medical complications for the past 5 years and we try to travel every year knowing that it could be the last trip - as long as the nursing home has a tv it won't matter what the view is!
