Just had a planning discussion with my wife. Given that we are willing to take the kids out of school 2 days for better fares and a less harried school vacation week, she would prefer leaving the Tuesday into the vacation week to give her time to get ready . I opt for the Thursday before vacation week to give a couple days at the end to ramp back up and get all the crap done that you ignored prior to leaving before returning to work. Her sister and SIL were of like mind with her. Interesting question, I'm sure it's more personality than sex (or maybe not ) hence the poll.

I vote Thursday .. I prefer the re-entry adjustment period.

I hate to say, but I prefer Thursday to Sunday so you get 2 weekends in!

We thought we solved that problem last year by going Tuesday to Thursday (9 days). The women really enjoyed the two extra days but the men were wanting to go home after a week. It doesn't matter....either way re-entry is tough!

I would opt for thrusday ---HOWEVER if you want a better price on airfare Tuesdays are generally the lowest fares........

Def Thursday. More so for the kids because they like to unwind at home after a trip before they go back to school. Packing can be done in the middle of the night before hand if needed.

Thursday. Easier for re-entry and easier for kids with school. The first day back from vacation is usually the start of something new- the days before vacation are review and/or tests which the kids can do before they leave.

I've done a Tues to Tues, and a Thurs to Thurs trip. Both were awesome, cause it was St. John. But, I definitely liked Thurs to Thurs better, for the simple reason that I didn't have to go right back to work on Friday.
