Saw on CNN this a.m. that hundreds of thousands in NY and NJ are out of power due to the storms in the NE. I know they're not reading this if their power is out... but just wanted to send good wishes their way for the weather to clear and the lights to come back on.

I hope your basements are dry, your flashlights have batteries, and you've got a few bottles of wine handy.

yeah, we got whupped pretty good--there ar tons of trees down and lots of places with no power--several neighboring towns had to cancel school today.

We were lucky and only had a few flickers of outage never went down completely and just some small branchs in the yard. Step son a few miles away lost power for 6 hours.

Same here but we have water in the basement. Can't stand it.
Getting to and fro Point Pleasant on Saturday night was quite the adventure but we carried on for a good meal!

We were very lucky. We have power, but the house right next to us does not, and will not until tomorrow or Wed likely.

That was one heck of a storm. Like Floyd in 99 but with stronger sustained wind. It just would not let up. The house was making sounds I never heard before. Part of my fence blew down. Lights flickered a few times, tripped the circuit breaker that runs the sump pump. I have 2 pumps in the pit, but need to swap one out with a battery backup model, no doubt after they re-stock.

We didn't get too much wind but OMG, the rain! It came down in buckets.

I don't know how much rain we got but the runoff from the mountain streams and springs is tremendous. Streams that are a mere trickle most of the time are several feet wide and at least a foot deep.

We had several inches of water in the basement. During the winter, the pipe that takes the water away from the house froze so my husband had unplugged the pump. As soon as he plugged it back in, it kept up with the water.

Hmm... I wonder how our building is doing. A few months ago we had a leak and flood in our apartment building when it rained. Our ceiling and walls were finally repaired just last month.

We flew out of NYC late Saturday morning. The rain and the wind weren't that bad at that time - I guess we were lucky to have gotten out. We are in my husband's hometown down in the South and I'm a little worried about our apt. up there. Sounds like it was a nasty storm.

Mary Beth, I'm sorry about your basement. It is dreadful to get soaked inside the house/building.

We were lucky too - no flooding or loss of power (live in Sussex County). Unfortunately where I work (near Wayne) its just a mess. So many roads are closed/detours. Hopefully the sun we're expecting tomorrow will dry out the roads!

We lost power for 6 hrs. No electric, no sump pump = flooding. My husband's township looks like a tornado went through. Many still without power. A tree fell on a teenage girl's car and she had to be extricated. Massive head trauma and may not make it. It's been a rough few days here...

Oh Bev I'm so sorry to hear about that girl. Her parents must be frantic. I hope things turn out well for her.
