John found some at our local liquor store yesterday.

We have not tried it yet, but I will report back on whether it's tasty in bottled form. We had it on tap at the Tap Room a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it then. I'm a big IPA fan.

I also found the Virgin Islands beer in our local liquor store but they only had the Mango. Waiting to find the Summer Ale, which I love.

The Virgin Island Island Hopping IPA was on island in early January but most places seemed to have run out quickly. It was a VERY respectable IPA and I hope the brewers make it a regular.

We've been able to get the mango ale (too sweet for me) and the summer ale (which is OK, not a favorite) for a couple of years around here. I was really excited about finding the ipa because we had it a couple of years ago on island. We actually tasted from the first barrel they brewed which was disappointing and not hoppy enough, but when we went back a week or so in that trip it was a different barrel and it was excellent. One of the guys (I am really bad with names so I am not sure which one) said the first barrel was not aged enough which accounted for the taste difference.

Hops! Finally, some hops! I'm looking forward to a taste. I may have to look for it at GABF if we don't make it down before November - no distribution in DC yet.

Cheers, RickG

Could you please give me a store name? I've been hoping to find VI beer somewhere in NJ. (I tried one of the stores listed in North Jersey, but they didn't have any :( ) I get down to LBI a few times a year, are you anywhere near there?

I've gotten it at Oak Tree Liquors in South Plainfield. It might be worth a call if you are heading down the Parkway.

I was fortunate to find the Mango Ale at a local liquor store last week. I'm sure that it is due to the fact that it is 45 degrees here - but the beer did NOT taste the same! Does anyone know if the beer sold on island (in the bottles) is the same as the beer sodl in the states (bottled in Maine)?

Go on their website. Its listed all the stores by town. I have 3 or 4 by me in Ocean County and one was less than a mile away but like I stated before they only have the Mango. I will try other others soon.

P.S. I'm sorry but it never tastes the same HERE! I think its the whole island vibe, etc. We used to bring home Amstel BRIGHT from Aruba all the time and boy do I love that beer, just doesn't cut it here in NJ :( even sitting by the pool!
