Is there anything open where the old Pastory Gardens/
Compass Rose used to be? That was a pretty neat place if I remember correctly?

We went there a couple years ago and personally, I thought it was the worst place I had ever been on St. John. The food was horrible and the romantic sunset view included tons of electrical lines right in the view! Yuck!!! We drove by it this past December, but I didn't care enough to look to see if it was open!!

We had a different experience. We sat at the bar one night and had burgers and killer onion rings. There was a nice, local crowd and the place had a pretty chill feel. We had fun.

Is it still open?

This place has been through many ups and downs right from the start. I remember we used to joke about it before it even opened because they had purchased advertising a year before it was even open. I do not think that it has been open for quite some time now. It was over a year ago when I was last there and there is a "no trespassing" sign right on the street side sign. Anyhow, the place has been for sale for years and had been tied up in a bankruptcy for years. I hate to see it just sit there...but in this economy, it would be tough to make it work. My son and I used to go there a lot for mini golf, but the course has been in really bad shape for a long time. It has a ton of beautiful plantings that need a lot of work. The water that runs through the course creates another set of problems. If it is kept clean and flowing, great! If not, it gets dirty really fast and makes a great place for mosquitoes to multiply. It's a shame!
