The Westin Ferry leaves from Crown Bay
The Caneel ferry leaves from the waterfront
You could contact the hotel and see if they will arrange for you to use one of their vessels for a negotiated fee.
The water taxis generally leave from Red Hook but will probably pick up downtown for an additional cost.
Isn't there a CA --STJ ferry at 5:30 pm - this would get you there before dark.
If you have less than 6 passengers you could have one of the rental companies have a Captained vessel waiting at Crown Bay for you.

thanks ez...it's just the wife and me going for our anniversary and we'll be on stt at 1:30 so we just wanted to get to stj sooner and would rather be on a boat than a packed van.. on stj we need to get a jeep, food etc and get out to a villa near salt pond before dark...thought the 5:30 would be pushing it...btw/ it's a good thing the mrs doesn't read this, she would really like the private captained romantic excursion across pillsbury sound.

Take a private taxi to Red Hook if it is just a crowded van aversion - even a limo if you wanted - they exist here - but any type of private vehicular transport would be way cheaper than any private vessel - plus you could stop for a little provisioning in STT at Fruit Bowl, Gourmet Gallery, Marina Market etc.or enjoy a romantic Champagne toast while you are in traffic.
Do you want the limo #'s ?? 5Star -714-5466
Gonzis- 775-9363
Northsides- 776-4565
Trust me that the boat ride fromCA to STJ might be rougher than romantic!

my 'aversion' is to anything i'm used to here in boston, in cars, in traffic, in crowds ...i just want to soak in the good stuff as soon as possible and was wondering what the options were...

now that you mention it, our last few ferry trips from ca to stj were bumpy as hell...ya so forget that little boat idea, we'd just spill the bubbly, get in a fight, then get divorced. thanks for counsel ez, we'll take the ferry.

You could do a private taxi to Red Hook. Doesn't eliminate the traffic, but you will leave the airport as soon as you're ready.

We've used Rachel Brown - 340-771-2986 (as has half the forum).

She charges $25/pp for 2.

Which day are you flying? I'm flying the non-stop from Boston next Sunday.

We've used Rachel Brown for 2 trips and seeing her at the airport is as much part of our trip is as the island. Her "Hello Sweethearts" greeting is music to our ears. My 14 year old twins want to adopt her.

If it's possible, she will get you to Red Hook at the next ferry- she knows the shortcuts, traffic patterns etc. If it isn't sit back, enjoy the ride and she will give you a fantastic tour of STT and get you to Red Hook easily in time for the next ferry.

A few more things to lose the Boston edge and decompress before you go so you will be on island time when you get there:

Take a walk by a body of water a day or two before you go.
Day spa trip. (guys can go get a hair cut, shave and nails trimmed)
No cooking the day before.
Stay in a hotel the night before the trip.
Use a private car service to and from airport- no worries about coats, parking etc.
A cocktail before, during and after the flight.

ENJOY!

Almost all of the above for moi. We're less than an hour from the airport so we don't do the hotel the night before. We do leave the house at O'DarkThirty to get the first flight of the day though. Fewer chances of delay that way.

I love it! Dark O'thirty. Smart move leaving early in the a.m. Logan is nuts but having connected through JFK last week (the airline changed my flight- I would NEVER have chosen that route), I appreciate Logan now.

Good list:

Take a walk by a body of water a day or two before you go - strolling by the local reservoir today; will go again next Saturday
Day spa trip. (guys can go get a hair cut, shave and nails trimmed) - mani-pedi scheduled
No cooking the day before - not a problem 8)
Stay in a hotel the night before the trip - hotel quality sheets will have to do.
Use a private car service to and from airport- no worries about coats, parking etc. - close; shared van booked
A cocktail before, during and after the flight. - are the bars at Logan open at "Dark O'thirty"? (love that)

see you soon Overman and Agent 99.

Sounds good.

And if the bars aren't opened a few nips of various flavored Stolichnaya in a quart bag will pass through security.

OJ + Stoli = screwdriver
Cranberry + Stoli = seabreeze
V8 + Stoli = Bloody Mary

The sum of the parts = Happy Trails!

Remember: VODKA, IT'S NOT JUST FOR BREAKFAST ANYMORE!

thanks jim, that grand banks looks gorgeous, maybe someday when there's 6 of us that would be an awesome last day in paradise...cruise of woe?

jayseadee, looks like we'll give rachel a ring...it beats waiting in those 14 person vans 'til we're jammed in like sardines...we fly out of boston saturday morning at the crack of Dark O'thirty, but this year we're staying at the airport radisson to extend the front end a bit.

agent99, how did you guys survive the mini hurricane that blew thru cape ann last week?...was scary looking video.

greenskeeper nice boston antidote list...
hotel, check
spa, sandancer mani/pedi, both of us tanning, check
no cooking, of course, check
all the bodies of water are ice...
...but i'll put some in our bloody mary(s) for the ride down...we sure could have used a few shots on last years trip into cyril king...it was so windy it took the pilot 3 trys to land on stt and there were some real panicked people on that plane lemme tell you...not that i was one of them.

maybe we'll see y'all at the bb sunday...what time?
oman and sandancer

I plan to be on the beach at the Beach Bar around 5pm - planes, boats, taxis permitting.
