Car Barge Update?

Can anyone tell me if there is any more news on the car barge? I've read on here that there have been some problems with some being out of commission. Our our plane doesn't arrive until 4:30 PM and the rental agency is accommodating us on the time. I'm just worried that it'll be cutting it really close, but I'm hoping they've gotten more barges up and running.

Thanks for any help!

Nope still the one company with one barge leaving STT and STJ on the half hour. Just drove past the ferry dock on STJ about 30 mins ago - loooong line :(

Thanks so much! We aren't getting in until Monday, so hopefully that day isn't as crazy as the weekends. We had wanted to pick up some groceries first, but I have the feeling we might be stuck on the dock overnight.

I would not stop for groceries unless you go straight to the dock, see how you are for time and then maybe go to the Marina Market across the street. Do not plan on the last ferry unless you have to as it can be crowded - remember locals are returning to STJ from STT late afternoon

I have seen Boyson run later barges to get everybody across. I am sure they still do this when only one is running. One caveat of course. People have to be waiting in STJ to return to STT for them to take people over to STJ after hours.

Thanks for all the help. I was able to read the replies, but couldn't log in earlier to thank you for the help. Our flight was delayed by 30 mins and we made it to the docks with about 2 minutes to spare. My friend looked at everyone lined up and freaked out about having to back up into the barge. We made it fine. Thanks again.

Glad you made it in time.

Just want to say that I saw the "palm tree" car ferry (best describes it :) ) at the dock on STJ today so I am assuming it is out of dry dock - fingers crossed
