Villa Amora recently?

Wondering if anyone has stayed at Amora recently? This villa caught my eye, but the reviews that I read are very average and somewhat dated. Based on the website photos and description, it looks really nice. We are interested in the Frank Bay area.

Is the area of homes very close with little privacy? Is the unit still up to date? It sounds as though the downstairs was able to be rented at one point, has that changed? I see it in reviews as 4 br, but the rest sounds like Amora listed as a 2 br.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. As always, Thanks for all the great information!

We stayed at Amora in June 2005.
If they don't rent the downstairs anymore, that's a good thing. It was pretty dumpy.

Amora as a 2 bedroom villa is pretty basic. If they haven't updated the fabrics and paint since we were there, it would be really dated. There is no dishwasher...the minimal of kitchen ware/acessories. Nothing extra here. It is not in a very private area. I love to sleep with the fresh air, but didn't feel quite safe enough to leave the windows or screens open at night. Perhaps because it's so close to town...

If you are looking at Amora for 2 people, it would be be a cool-affordable-walk to town-private pool-moderate/budget condo type unit. Romantic enough for a budget minded couple, or roomy enough for friends. A note about walk to town, though. Easy down, treacherous up. Straight up...to the top. If you have 2 couples, I think you could do much better. IMHO. Check out 3 bedroom villas in Great Cruz bay/Chocolate Hole area...similar price for 4 people to Amora, twice the wow factor...so much nicer.

If you were considering Amora because you didn't want to rent a vehicle, we have stayed at Great Cruz Bay area and taxied back and forth for less than renting a vehicle.

Frank Bay...hmmm. Rocky beach between the people ferry and the car/go ferry. I'm thinking not so much. I can't imagine why you'd spend much time there when there are so many other gorgeous beaches.

I hope this helps.
