Hello everyone, I will be arriving Mar. 3rd for a week at Maho Bay camps. Just wondering if the bugs are a problem this time of year?

We were there a similar time in 2004 and I was fine. Of course our mosquito magnets (my lover and my oldest daughter) had bumpy itchy legs by day 3. DEET and claritin worked for them. I'm allergic to DEET and the herbal remedy (not that one) worked fine.
Our trip report is in the archive here and at

You'll have a blast! I really like this spot. My Sweet Christine and I will be over the hill for a week in April. We will definately hit breakfast and hopefully some live music at the campground.
Cheers, Rick
Great Report

Dear Rick, thanks for your reply. I don't have time to read the entire trip report right now but have printed it out to read on the plane Saturday. I love Maho Bay campground. This will be our 4th trip to STJ and the 3rd stay at Maho. The last trip was in 2004 but we rented a small villa on the Coral Bay side. It just wasn't the same feel for us. I know it's not for everyone but we love the back to nature feeling we get there. Now, if I can just get through the next 3 days without getting fired I will be in Paradise soon. Thanks again, Snorkles

3 days – you lucky dog. We’re at 65 days – guess its better then 365 days. Can’t wait. This trip is soooooo badly needed. I might just build a palm frond tiki hut right on Gibney beach and drink fermented coconut juice (Cruzen Coconut Rum). Have a great time.

I know what you mean Fla. George. I need this trip more than ever. This year started off on a sad note. My mother died Jan. 8th and my boyfriend's mother died 5 weeks later. We are really looking forward to chillin' for a while. I will drink some Cruzan rum in your honor.
