JVD - STJ Combo Trip?

We are thinking of taking a JVD-STJ combo trip this summer, just the 2 of us, and would appreciate some input. Maybe 3 days on JVD and 7 on STJ, adjustable somewhat depending on any minimum rental times involved.

Which island would you visit first?

Suggestions on places to stay on JVD? Prefer villas but for the short stay would consider other options.

Other than White Bay things, what is not to be missed?

Any other favorite "get away from it all" destinations you would suggest (where travel from the midwest wouldn't kill us)? Must be beautiful, warm and have good snorkeling.

Thanks in advance!

Brilliant idea!

We did this last spring starting with 5 on JVD and then 5 on STJ.

On JVD we stayed at Sandcastle, which I cannot recommend highly enough. They just might have some room for summer, but I'd be checkin real soon. I'm pretty sure they have a 4 day minimum.

It was nice not having to schlep ourselves up the hill to a villa...just roll it out every morning and a few steps to the beach. While there are some things to do and places to see on JVD, its best feature is your butt on White Bay beach.

Although Sandcastle/Soggy Dollar is ground zero for day trippers, that's only from 11 - 4:00 and we actually found the whole spectical somewhat entertaining. If it gets too bad, just mozey down the beach and visit Gertrude or Seddy.

STJ was our more active stay with a jeep and multiple beaches/bars/restaurants. We were at St John Livin in Coral Bay and I'd do that again real quick.

About the only thing I'd change is the order of the islands. I'd start with STJ and end with JVD. Get some activity out of your system on STJ and let total beach gravity hit you on JVD.

Have a ball

Hmmm, yeah that would be hard for me to choose Jost first or STJ...I can't wait to get back to STJ so I think I would have to get that out of my system first and then head over to Jost, but who knows...Either way is a win win...

I have stayed at St. John and then the BVIs several times. We usually start with St. John and then go to the BVIs. I always try to start with the cheaper accomodations first, and then move my way up. This summer we are going to St. John for 7 days in a villa, 2 days at Jost (probably I'van's campground), 4 days on Virgin Gorda, and the last night on St. Thomas. I have been to the Sandcastle several times but never stayed there. The Sandcastle is really nice. I have eaten at their restaurant at night. It is true that there are lots of other beach bars up and down White Bay if it gets too crowded during the day. It is almost magical to be on White Bay first thing in the moring or last thing in the afternoon. It is so quiet and relaxing. You really should at least have drinks at Foxy's in Great Harbor. It's an institution! We are thinking about renting a jeep for at least one day and hitting the other side of Jost as well.
