Estimate of flowers for wedding

I am looking for feedback from anyone who might be able to help. We are getting married in a few months on St. John. It will be just myself, my fiance, my sister and her husband. We received an estimate of almost $300 for 2 bouquets. I thought that was very excessive, especially given the fact that no decisions have been made regarding the design or flowers used in the bouquets.

Any input is appreciated from the forum group.

Thanks.

Probably about right as all flowers are shipped in from Florida I believe. I can't remember what I paid for my wedding flowers but I can try to find my info if you like (no guarantee I will be able to find them) but they would be from 2004 so I'm not sure if that would help you or not. I do remember the small (and I mean small) bags of rose petals that we scattered on the beach were $10 per bag - and a bag covered about 12" :)

When we got married there, the company supplied the flowers. They were artificial, but looked really really good. We got to choose the colors and everything.

When I was best man at a wedding in 2005 the bride ordered the flowers they said 500 well the guy we were staying at was shocked so he took her back and canceled so the morning of the wedding we drove around the island and picked flowers made the arangements and had a great time while the girls were getting there up dues. In fact went went on a fishing charter before that.

as per waterguy, when we renewed our vows, we just cut some flowers on the side of the road--there was tons to choose from --
if you want Pro bouquets then this probably isn't for you, but if you go out the day before with some friends (bring some nice ribbon--gather some stuff at your local florist to bring with you) then you can probably make something really nice --
just conjure your inner martha stewart--pre insider trading.....

Having been in the biz....if you put the word "wedding" before anything, the price goes up exponentially. Is there anyplace on ST Thomas that sells flowers? A bouquet of all one kind of flower, wrapped stems and then tied with ribbon would look simple and elegant. (You can check out Martha Stewart or The Knot for instructions)

I'm a purist but there are some silk flowers that truly do look real. If you live anywhere near Hanover, Garden Craft does unbelievable work and could do something beachy for you to bring with you.

STJ is such a naturally beautiful place, you don't need alot to make your day beautiful.

Congratulations and best wishes.

We picked some flowers from near the villa and wrapped a ribbon around the stems after they were trimmed.....here's a photo

Drumbiker - just beautiful! I paid so much for my bouquet (almost 20 years ago!) and hated it - what I really wanted was one that looked just like yours!

For our 2005 beach wedding we had two bouquets made. The cost was around $300. We sent the florist photos of the dresses and were very happy with the flowers.
