Long-time lurker here but first time poster. I'm planning on going to St. John sometime in the next three months and was interested in renting a villa. I had a my eye on Tre Scalini in Chocolate Hole but I haven't been able to find out that much info on it. Has anyone stayed there and if so, what are your thoughts on the villa? Thanks in advance!

Since I never stay on that side of the island I can't comment first hand but I do know that it's a really beautiful villa. I don't think you'll be disappointed one tiny bit. :D

piscesfish - I travelled with Cariblvr and stayed at Tre Scalini.

I would classify Tre Scalini as a good value. From what I recall we got a good deal on the place. It is fairly close to Cruz Bay. It was clean and the care taker was friendly. The interior decor (which doesnt matter when you are STJ in my opinion) was a bit out of date and you can tell the place hasn't undergone a lot of improvements recently. Although we were there a year ago and things may have changed...

The bedrooms are not all accessible from inside the house, in other words, you have to go out on the deck and climb stairs to get from bedroom to bedroom. This offered great privacy for our group of 3 couples. Although it wouldnt be the best for a family, especially with younger children.

The views of STT and the sunset are great from this villa. Overall I would recommend it.

Good luck.

Thanks a bunch for the input!! Its interesting that you mention the dated decor because I noticed on Villa Finder that it says Tre Scalini underwent a high-end renovation to the bathrooms and kitchen in 2006. But maybe it wasn't as extensive as I'm thinking. There'll be three couples so the bedroom locations should be perfect. Is it a nicely sized villa though? And I heard that it has steps leading down to the water. Is that true? Thanks again for your help!
