USVI should be fine. Cuba, DR, Jamaica, probably fine (no tsunami seen yet). Fingers crossed. Not good for Haiti.

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A US government agency on Tuesday issued a tsunami warning for countries bordering the Caribbean sea, after a powerful 7.3 quake rocked Haiti.
"This message applies to countries within and bordering the Caribbean sea," the Pacific Tsunami Warning center said, "except for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands."

That's good news! It's horrifying to watch the news this morning, though. It breaks my heart to see those people, who had nothing, lose everything.

My Mom called me and left a panicked message fearing for STJ and surrounding islands. I am grateful that all should be safe. I am sending out my thoughts and prayers to all those that were victims in one way or another.

I am at work and don't have a TV--will you keep me updated? I cannot imagine what Haiti is going through and hope they are wrong about the Tsunami.

We are on island now. Yesterday we went to Trunk and it was closed. They were not charging a fee for this beach and Cinnamon. You could go but they closed off the snorkel trail and did not recommend it for children. We ended up at Francis where the waves were pretty strong also. Later in the day we went to reserve a dinghy from Noah's and I asked her if they were expecting swells again for today and she said that those waves are from the earthquake in Haiti not the normal swells.

How is the quality of construction in the VI's and BVI's? Just wondered how the villas would fare in a fare sized earthquake?
