Flight to VG

I am starting to look into flights to VG for our April/May trip vs taking the ferry. I know there is Airsunshine but I cant seem to find anyone else. Are there any other options or is the best choice really to just take the ferry? After reading about the swells going on today I think I am starting to panic a little!

Thanks!

I don't think there are other commercial airlines than Air Sunshine operating to VG.

But there are private charter flights, Island Birds for instance.

The water is normally not as ruff in April/May as in the winter.

We used Island Birds in Feb/March and were pleased. We fly in from San Juan but they will also pick up in STT.

Captain Jay may also have a good recommendation. I remember him mentioning a service a while back that I hadn't found in my research.

I remember hearing Cape Air was going to start servicing VG but I don't know where that stands.

We've chartered Island Birds a couple of times and were pleased. FlyBVI is another charter company that Little Dix uses to transport their guests.

Flying from STT to VG is so convenient. On one of our trips, we were standing in our Virgin Gorda villa within an hour of landing in STT!

Elle,

The Winter swells won't be there in April/May and the ferry is sooooooo much more convenient than going all the way back to STT from STJ and going thru the traffic and time and airport...vs climbing on the ferry and grabbing a beverage and relaxing. In addition the boats are big and the views as the islands pass by can't be beat.

As they say just my 2 cents

Dave

I have gone over the Virgin Gorda on someone's boat. How long does the ferry take?

Thanks for all the info everyone.

Designbyroe, I think the ferry over to VG from STJ is about an hour and a half. Maybe a little less.

Bigcheeze, that is what I was worrying about missing. I am looking forward to seeing all the islands on the trip over on the ferry but boy, if I got stuck on a boat while feeling sick, that would be awful. I have never had a problem with this but would rather avoid it. You have a good point about going back to STT though.

I think we will stick with ferry but I will bookmark the charter flights for future trips. So thanks!

My Mom is prone to feeling ill if there's a sea...(and flying too) Dramiine works great for her

Ace flight center does private charters. We use them to get back and forth to Puerto Rico when we are moving the boats. Here is a link to their web page http://aceflightcentervi.com/
