Good idea, Captain John. Bail out the dinghy first.
Then, we're on our way.

We're not eating until later this afternoon, so you and Ron and John and Sue should get here just in time. If you will have John send me a tweet when you're about 15 minutes out I'll lower the ladder. Never can be too cautious about Pirates in this neighborhood.

Well we waited and waited but Ruth, Ron, John and Sue did not show up. I tried to save some turkey for them because I knew they would be here, but alas, somehow all of the turkey disappeared. Sorry gang, maybe next time.

Here's what you missed:

Nice job!

Did you inject the bird with liquid marinade?

I use platex kitchen type rubber gloves and carve the bird with an electric knife.

People are rarely patient when the bird is done! :D

We did not inject, in fact, we have never injected so I don't know how to compare. We did brine the bird over night with a homemade brine recipe.

I did one at Thanksgiving and did not put the picture of it up because I messed it up. For one thing I used cottonseed oil instead of peanut oil and I apparently let the temp get too high, thus it was, shall we say, charcoaled on the outside, even though the meat inside tasted very good. This time I used peanut oil and was much more liberal (in a manner of speaking) with the temp, not allowing it to get too high. This one was very moist and very, very tasty, even if I must say so myself. :) However, I must give props to promoguy who reminded me of some of the basics of turkey frying. Thanks promoguy!!!

Looks good.

It's a popular way of doing a turkey up here in the Northland. It also is the cause of many house fires because, well, people up here shouldn't be trusted with hot oil.

I've heard that about people in Wisconsin.
