Haven't been on the forum for a while, and was just looking through some of the more recent villa reviews. I was suprised to see several 1-3 star reviews. It seems like there are more than there used to be. Are Are villas in general not being maintained as well anymore? Maybe the bad economy is squeezing some of the owners? Anyone who has been recently seeing problems with villa upkeep?

Maybe people are more budget minded these days and are staying in lower price villa's? These villa's may not live up to their expectations. Let's face it money's not what it used to be.

When money gets tight, maintanence is often deferred.

The villa we just stayed in had several improvements since we were there last year, so our experience was actually the opposite...but I can see the economy causing villa owners to put off major renovations or improvements until cash flow is steadier.

We were there in June for 10 days and rented the same villa for a second time. They did alot of nice updates since the last time we had been there. So...not sure what villas they're referring to but I have not noticed...

It could also be expectations of the renter. I know that the last house we rented had bad reviews elsewhere on the web, and we found it to be perfectly fine, very enjoyable and comfortable, with good amenities. I should have done a positive review of the house when we got back.

Thanks for the feedback. Must have been a coincidence that there was a rash of bad reviews.
