I don't have a problem with that charge at all. For non-guests, that seems fair. At least I have a choice....I can walk, sweat, carry a ton of crap, get bug bites, and sweat some more.....or pay 10. No brainer to me. :D

Ah well, it was nice while it lasted. But I certainly get it. The convenience of the fresh water shower to rinse off and the nice bathrooms certainly merits some sort of comp. I never felt guilty for the freebie 'cause we always stop for lunch and a couple of adult beverages there on the way to or from Honeymoon. And I'll fess up to the occasional stealth snorkle in the verboten areas. Come and get me copper. $10 is a small price to pay, IMO.

Word.
No problem.
Honestly I don't really visit Caneel anyway...
I'd rather be on my (our) own, with our favorite drinks, snacks,etc...
Don't get me wrong, great underwater views to admire, lovely landscapes, wonderful & gracious service, great nachos, but I'd rather do my own thing, ya' know?
We're staying closer to the East End come April, and can't wait to enjoy those beaches more thoroughly.-
Just got an early Christmas gift; we're a solid for "Just Enough" villa for vaca.
Can't wait.
All "cost" aside,I guess that I'm just not the Caneel type. :?:
However, all other beaches are open season!!!

Hi Mahojim,

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you both !!

We're staying at "Just Enough" in April too, when are you there? You're the 1st person we have seen staying there. If before us,please send us a review or we'll do the same.

For those of you who live there and have a boat....I'm still jealous and don't want to hear it. :P :P

Stay warm at the higher elevations...and safe...and have a Very Merry Christmas!

Can't wait!(naturally...)-hope to run into you two again!
Tipsy-
We'll be there 4/24-5/01.
The place looks perfect for us. We were undecided as where to stay this year, but realized that we should definately downsize.
This after spending too much money and effort while usually renting larger places with other couples. Don't get me wrong, we've had some wonderfully successful trips with friends, but there always seems to be a hiccup,or two. We just need some "alone time", ya' know?
I'm sure you'll be there before us, so please keep in touch with your opinion of that cute little home!
It looks like (from the limited pix on the net-) it's right around the corner from Skinny's. Mmmm..., burgers...!
Looking forward to visiting Hansen, Haulover, and of course, Maho & Francis.
I've actually never been to Vie's, nor Shipwreck, so this trip should be a wonderful new eyeopening experience. I usually just sit my butt down on Maho and forget about all other plans.
Can't wait...
As with 99% of my last 10 trips, I'll probably cruise right by Caneel.
Maybe hit Jumbie more...
Ahhh...
I can already smell the trees in the breeze! (Or is that bat poop?!?)

We were there probably Dec 18th and we didn't pay anything nor were we asked too nor did we see that sign. We parked in the guest/taxi lot no prob. How old is that sign?

We also visited the month before you in November.
Like I said, the place is lovely, just not for us.We parked in the same place as you folks did, as well.
To me the walk to/from the car was a drag with all the beach needs-(chairs,beachballs,frisbees,coolers,badminton set, horseshoes, lawn jarts, towels, hammer & nails to hang the "ring game" that we purchased at the Soggy Dollar last year, grossly oversized sombreros,etc...), and although the drinks & grub were good, it was definately overpriced.
The sign is obviously new.
