Have a friend who is thinking about renting this villa.
Anyone stay there? Anyone stay in the magens bay area villas? Never spent much time on STT - except as a gateway to get to STJ. How does Magens compared to STJ beaches?

Thanks for any feedback (good exp or bad exp)

Have not stayed at Seabright but have stayed in the Peterborg area. Our preference is Peterborg East or Peterborg North - both have views of open ocean and Hans Lollick. JMO, but having also stayed on the Magen's Bay side of the peninsula, I think that it's better to be north or east. Seabright is on the north side so there should be good breezes and beautiful far Atlantic views. Its neighbors are Gwenn and Banana so check those two out as well for some other pix of the area and views. Seabright is managed by McLaughlin Anderson and they run a pretty tight ship - have rented from them several times and appreciate their attention to detail in the properties they manage and their quick response to any issues.

Magen's is a beautiful beach for sunning and swimming and they have the best pizza on island at their snack shop; however, it is not a snorkeling spot at all. There are other beaches on STT where there is much better snorkeling - Smith Bay Beach, Secret Harbour, Coki, night snorkeling at Hull Bay - and STJ is just 20 minutes away by ferry from Red Hook.

We checked out Magens one Saturday-it's a beautiful LONG beach, very nice sand, so long that it's hard to feel crowded. The day we were there it had a nice local vibe to it-many families and kids out bbq'ing, music etc. Had lots of amenities too.
This shows maybe 2/3 of the beach length:

Magens is a harder, finer sand that most of the St. John beaches - the snorkeling can be interesting if you try hard but not as readily accessible as on St. John. This was our local beach when we lived there and it is a local scene on Sundays - lots of families, beach parties, etc. Can be loud where the covered pavilions are near the middle if someone has the music going. All the way at the end farthest from the entrance is usually pretty quiet though, with few people, but that is the furthest spot from the bar :)

There is also rental of small boats, etc. Great calm water for swimming for exercise too.

Can one take the Safari bus there or is it too far off the main road? Thanks!
