Well I guess this would be more like a mountain trail than a road.Thank you for your input. We will visit S.T.J. in July and will avoid this road. Dan...

It is scary. Hardly a road at all. Plus it takes for-EVER to travel on it.

Also, your car rental agreement technically forbids it. If you were to get stuck, or worse, you're toast.
Probably not a good idea!

If you rent a four wheel drive you will be able to drive about 95% of the road. It is quite steep going up from Coral Bay but half of it is paved. If you go in from Chateau Bordeaux Rest. it is very flat and the first mile plus is paved. Go right and up at the fork in the road and the road goes to dirt. That will take you to the entry to the Bordeaux Mt. trail (no sign) that you can hike down to the south shore beaches. I'm building a small house near the top of the Coral Bay side. We were somewhat intimidated the first time we drove up with the realtor but it gets easier the more you do it. If they would just pave a couple more places you could drive from Coral Bay to Centerline. Everyone has their own opinion of course.

The Bordeaux Mountain Trail is 1.2 miles long and it goes down to Little Lameshur Bay. Little Lameshur has a beautiful sand beach and there is a sugar/bay leaf factory ruins overlooking the bay. The trailhead at the top of the mountain (as you go in from Chateau Bordeaux Rest.) is on the right side just before a concrete water catchment.

It's an exposed hot trail. Bring lots of water!

Thank you Bart for your input.I found the end of that trail at Lameshure last June.By the way who's great idea was it to pave the road going to Lameshure? It took the fun right out of it.
One last note:Bart, would you like to adopt a 42 year old son?
