jeep question

Hi all~ new here to the forum and just booked the villa for our first trip to STJ! so excited~~ I'll be having a hard time concentrating at work for the next two months

I do have a question regarding the jeep though.. After weighing the pros and cons we decided to rent on STT. Can the 2-door Wrangler fit 4 adults? (three of us are petite ladies). The email I got from Dependable says the 2-door has "no back window" what does that mean? Like the two sitting in the back will be in a black hole? It's not too much more to get the 4 door but we just like how the 2 door looks and think it's a little easier to maneuver ;)

Also, how does a Jeep Compass compare? Found a good rate on a Compass from Avis. Will it work well on the hills? We are staying in Coral Bay area.

Thanks a bunch!

The 2 door is literally pain in the neck for anyone sitting in the back seat. A big negative is constantly having to fold the seat up to get in back. When we went to put the seat back down, it would slam the legs of the person behind that seat. Not sure if it was that we had a "well used" Jeep or the way they all are but it was not an easy task. I must say it was a great way to get the kids up and adam in the morning. Last one in the Jeep got the pleasure of the leg slammin' seat.

There is also little room for much more than the people. We did manage to cram a family of 4, beach chairs and a cooler of libations in but it was a very tight squeeze.

No back window means there is no way to fully secure the vehcile when not in it. That would be a deal breaker for me.

When we went in 2008 one couple had a four door jeep and one couple had a two door jeep...

They both have back seats...the four door is more convenient and has a bit more room...but they both work fine.

The 4-door was hardtop and the two door was soft-top...

We're in a 2 door soft top Jeep from Dependable right now. I can't imagine getting four people in it. You can hardly get into the back seat. It's difficult to put a bag and a small Playmate Cooler in the backseat because the front seats don't tilt forward very much. Plus, if you use the back seats, you have virtually no cargo space for luggage. We can barely fit two small beach chairs in the back area. If the back seats are collapsed and not used, you have more cargo space. I would heartily recommend that you get the four door Jeep for four people.

Rent a 4 door Wrangler. The 2 door is a PIA for anyone who has to get in and out of the back seat and there is vertually ZERO room for much else like beach chairs, cooler and snorkel gear. A 2 door Jeep is fine if there is only 2 people. For 4 people get the 4 door.......trust me you won't be sorry.

thanks guys for all your advice!
looks like we'll be getting a 4-door this time to make everyone comfortable and happy~ maybe we'll get the 2-door next time when it's only the two of us

How about the Compass? Anyone knows if the ones they have at AVIS on STT has the 2WD or 4WD? It's almost $100 cheaper than the Wrangler...
