Hi Forum Friends,
Don't mean to bring such a downer here but I need to say this....it may save a life.
I lost a friend yesterday. He was working on a road crew and someone drove into the work area killing him and injuring one of his co-workers.
I just want everyone to remember when you get behind the wheel of a car you are responsible for a deadly weapon. One wrong move, one moment of inattention can cost someone there life. Every move you make behind the wheel of a car can have devastating results. We often lose site of this. Driving is second nature to most of us and we treat it far to casually.
Please for those of you teaching teens to drive tell them this. The car is a deadly weapon, more deadly than a gun even.
Most people would never think of pulling a gun and shooting someone, but the red light you run or the phone call you take could have the same results.

Again sorry to bring this downer here but it may save your life or the life of your loved one.

My thoughts are with you and your friend's family at this most difficult time!

I preach that to my husband all the time. He has a stero system with a zillion channels. He's always fooling with that, while on the phone, or e-mailing. It drives me so nuts that I usually drive.

Good reminder to all of us and sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss Joppa.. It sounds like the accident in Chelmsford, MA. that I saw on the news last night. I hope the woman responsible wasn't texting.. Just terrible for everyone involved.

I'm so sorry, Joppa! Everyone needs to hear the reminders that we are driving weapons. What an unneccessary loss, made even worse by it being the holiday season.

Joppa, you have my condolences. I am so sorry about your friend.

Hearing this stirs up a lot of fears in me. First, my biggest fear is hurting someone. I cannot imagine what it would be like to have to live with knowing that I caused someone else pain or worse.

The other thing is that part of our business is wrecker service. I could bore you with all the stories of close calls that my husband and employees tell me about. I can't believe the ignorant things people do. They just don't seem to get it.

Gina Mass just passed the slow down/move over law. There is a slow down/move over group on face book, many of my friends have become fans the past couple days.
The law is designed to protect workers(wreckers,police,construction), I'm sure you know all about it.

Sorry for your loss Joppa. I have to say that when I first moved out here from the Midwest the drivers here in the East scared the daylights out of me!! I couldn't believe the things I saw on the highway on a daily basis. Those antics would have gotten you yelled at, flipped off or beaten up where I come from (or maybe all three)!!!
Everyone needs to THINK about what they're doing when they get behind the wheel. If you don't have any respect for your own life, then think about the son/ daughter/husband/wife/sister/brother that you might injure or kill with only one moment of carelessness. Then you need to think about all the lives that will be affected by that person's loss. Suddenly waiting 2 extra minutes for that red light doesn't seem like such an imposition, does it?
