Villa Help

Hello everybody.

This my first time to St. Johns and it will be my first time ever booking a villa. The choice is dazzling! I've been looking through the forum and trying to figure out the best locations. We would like something close to or at least an easy drive to the Cruz Bay or Coral Bay restaurants at night. Paved roads are always a good thing at night. We are also looking in the $200-$250 a night range.

The two at the top of my list are Honeymoon Cottage near Francis Bay and Island Time on Dever's Bay. I can't find any information at all about Island Time on line. Can any one tell me anything about these villas or recommend from personel experience something that might work.

If it is just two of you going, I've read great things about Honeymoon cottage. You are not really close to either Cruz Bay or Coral Bay in that location--though you are right at my favorite beach (Francis).

Not answering your question, but...

...Tesseract and Poinciana are both nice, convenient to CB and fit your budget. Just another nugget from the "for what it's worth" department! Enjoy your trip!

It is just the two of us and while we are not excluding Cruz Bay area we would probably prefer Coral Bay.

I'll check those two out.

Have a look at Bayview

We stayed there our first two trips to St John. Very comfortable, private, great views and fairly close to Coral Bay.

I know where Island Time is and it's a great spot. The snorkeling around the point towards Chocolate Hole is impressive deep channels. It's a cobble stone beach, but there is a sandy entry point directly below the house.

We rented Sunset Beach on that bay twice and really enjoyed the location. Sunset Beach is right on the water and gets slammed by no-see-ums at dawn and dusk. Island Time is up the cliff 75 feet or so and should be good.

Cheers, RickG

We second the Bayview, seems to fit your criteria, which was the criteria we had for our first (and second) visit to STJ. Sent you a PM with add'l info.

Check out Astral Ridge, Astral Villa or Astral Cottgae. They are owned by the friend of a friend and come highly reccomended. The web site looks nice.

Congrats on the nuptuals! We spent our honeymoon on St. John... great choice!

We stayed here on Devers Bay two years ago. It was a very nice villa. Just be careful when going in that driveway. The snorkeling was good there as well. Just head west toward Chocolate Hole.

I'm starting to think HOneymoon Cotttage may be too far out for getting to the restaurants too. Thanks

Steveo,

If we decide to stay in cCoral Bay,I do like the look of Poinciana. I'll put it on my list.

KPlum & Bob&Anita

Since we are going in November, I think we may get more use out of a hot tub than a pool. I don't think Bay view has a hot tub from what I can see. Thanks though.

Sailor girl,

I like the look of Astral Ridge but how long does it take to get to the restaurants at night? Is the road paved to the villa?

RickG and Wolfgang,

Island Time is on the short list and your information helped quite a bit. RickG, do the rocks continue on the beach once you are in the water?

Wolfhound,

Since you stayed there can you tell me more about this villa. What did you mean about the driveway? How long did it take to get into town for the restaurants and to the beaches on the North Shore? How where the mosquitoes and no seeums at night? Anything else you can think of adding?

Thanks everybody for answering my questions, this is a great forum!

We looked into Astral Villa a while ago. It is beautiful, but the road is definitely NOT paved. In fact, you'd want 4WD to get up there.

The road was not a dealbreaker for us, but it's something for you to think about as you plan.

Dear Daffy

From what I understand they are near Coral Bay, as for the driveway I don't know. They are offered by owner so you can give them a call direclty if you like.
