I would love to take the hubby out on a sailing adventure during our stay in Feb- we have rented a power boat in the past, but being sailors here in Maine, we'd love to go on a sailing adventure during our next vacation. Any great suggestions?? Thanks a bunch!

During high season it might be hard to find one to rent short term,I presume to sail yourself. PM Capt Jay on this board he works at CYOA in St. Thomas and may have some suggestions. Cinnamon Beach has several small day sailors and hobies on the beach. You could call and see about availability. They looked kind of beat to me though.

If you're looking for a day sail, I recommend Long Distance. They sail out of Coral Bay and they are from Maine too.

Don't know your feelings on multi-hulls but Captain Rusty on "Trisel" sails out of Great Cruz - truthfully one of the best "sailing adventures" I see out there. Captain Phil is an excellent choice on a monohull for sure.

I second the reccomendation for Captain Rusty and Trisail. I My husband and I went out with him on our honeymoon. Just the two of us. When he realized we were more interested in sailing then snokleing he took us on a great ride,it was very fast... cool. Not much for the creature comforts as I recall cheese on Ritz crackers and Bud in a can, but it was a wild ride

We sailed to Jost with Phil Chalker and Tarn. 6 person boat with Phil and Tarn. He has been around a long time and wonderful guiding you through your snorkels. You won't be disappointed. More of the "old island" sailing experience. He has some great stories!

Yo..I also recomend Rick and Robin of boat Long Distance. They will take care of you and let you enjoy their boat which they live on by the way! Robin is a registered nurse. Rick will tell you about and take you to some great areas only available by boat. Please PM with any questions..God bless..Bill

Hi Sailahgirl - "Mainiacs" everywhere! Capt.Kevin McKinney of Born To Rhumb is from York. We live in the Portland area - making our first trip to STJ at the end of November. It's sounding more and more like a place we won't ever want to leave (other than the fact that we love Maine!).
