What is your favorite villa location on STJ and why?

Family of 6 looking to make our third trip next May-June. Looking to stay 10-12 days. Thinking about spending 4-5 days at Concordia to start with and then to a villa for a week to minimize costs to the extent possible.

Our previous villa experiences:

La Lapin - first visit. Loved the layout and ocean views from the wrap around decks. Pool area got a lot of sun. Road not too bad and convenient to Cruz Bay.

Coral Oasis - we much prefer the ambiance (or lack thereof) of Coral Bay. Thus the reason to spend a few days to start our vacation in that area. This villa on Mamey Peak was so convenient to Coral Bay and the Northshore beaches. Very upscale, perhaps too much so for us. But, the pool was almost too cold in May!

What we want in a villa: 3-4 bedrooms (may have a guest or two). High great views with maximum sun and sunsets. Nice pool is mandatory; hot tub a bonus. Don't care about access roads as the more private the better. Budget is $3,500 - 5,000 in total villa costs for a week. Understand this isn't available in Coral Bay area so that is where Concordia or something like it comes in.

all input welcomed, jp

Mystic Ridge. We stayed there 6 times.

Off Centerline overlooking Coral Bay and the East End; very private; beautiful sunrise; 5 min from Maho; 10 min to Coral Bay; 15 min to Cruz Bay...it's better than the pictures.

I like everywhere we have been so far, but I tell you, I loved being up on Calabash boom last year.

The only thing is you get the sunrise, not the sunset.

Very nice comfortable breeze, very quiet- loved it. Very peaceful up there.

The road is crazy-bumpy, but not particularly dangerous.

We really liked Altamira.
  • We went with our teenage boys and loved Altamira.
    the view was fantastic
the pool is nice and very well kept
there is a hot tub on the patio (dated but warm with a nice view)
we ate every meal outside on the patio--it was shaded and the view was great
I walked every day to the beach by Ditlef (sp)
I have teased on this forum about the telescope and private beach
    the kitchen was well equipped
there was a stone shower outside the main bedroom--so cool!
The location is nice--quiet yet quick drive to Cruz
we had a great view for the sunrise and the sunset
the second room was a pod (there was a walkway between the main house to the pod)
the third bedroom we did not see but it had it's own entrance and was below the main house (no view--maybe if someone in your group likes to play at night and sleep in it will work)
    the price is right

Le Lapin is Dolphin Run now, right? The view does look great!

LE LAPIN II is beautiful!!

Enjoy villa shopping!!

I think my all time fave is Spellbound Villa, formerly named Lyon's Pride.
3 bedrooms, lots of privacy, and UNBELIEVABLE views.
We also really enjoyed Plumeria, another great layout, not far from Cruz Bay.
Good luck!

Ditto Spellbound! Isolated, breathtaking views, and big pool.

Diana, we stayed at Moonswept. There has not been much mention of it on the forum, but it was a lovely house, so perfect in many ways- feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

For the best view I'd have to vote for Catherineberg and my favorite houses up there are Island Sun and Cinnamon Stones.

For best location (easy access to the Northshore beaches-10 min, Coral Bay-10 min. and Cruz Bay-17 min.) Bordeaux Mountain at mid-island. It's quiet and private and has stunning views down the chain of islands all the way to Virgin Gorda. Favorite houses in the area Summer Wind and Casa Bueno.

I've been coming down to STJ for close to 20 years and have yet to find the 'perfect villa'. There are many that we've returned to but the perfect house still eludes us. My dream house is Rotunda in Upper Peter Bay. If I had the $$$ that it takes to rent that one, I'd book it today!
