Taxi vs car rental

Mornin'
As our only hope of getting to STJ in the next 18 months, we have found a great deal on a cruise and will be on STJ next Tuesday. Our plan is to ferry over, hit a beach for about 3 hours, head back to Cruz Bay, hit Mongoose Junction to browse around, have a drink or two at Gecko Gazebo, hit Happy Hour at Woody's and then head back to STT around 6. My question is: since we would really only need a vehicle to get to and from the beach, would that even be practical and how far out will a taxi go to take 4 people to a nice, less crowded beach (we had Maho in mind, but know that may be a stretch for a taxi).

Thanks for any input!!!

I would rent a car anyway. Even if you could get a taxi to go to Maho it would probably be at least $10.00 pp each way so you would already be at $80 for the 4 of you (Cinnamon is, I believe $8.00 pp so $64.00 to go to Cinnamon and back) and that way you will have alot more time to go where you want when you want and not have to worry about if the taxi will be back at the set time.

I think you are right. It would give us more freedom in case we decice to hit more than one beach, head over to Coral Bay, etc. Thanks for your input.

Is Courtesy within walking distance of the ferry dock? I can't seem to place it in mind.

Courtesy will meet you right at the dock! They were very nice to deal with on the phone; so much so that although they only had a more expensive vehicle left, my hubby said "book it!"
