Carry on question

We are traveling to FL via Continental with some of the grands and want to go all carry on. I know my suitcases are OK and will fit in the overhead, what I want to know is can I use a backpack that will fit under the seat as a personal item? The web site is very sketchy on what you can carry.

yes my husband always uses his back pack when traveling. we don't carry on but often he also has a duffle as well that goes in over head. Usually carrying that bag for me :)

You should be fine we bring two good sized backpacks and stuffem under the seats, never been a problem for us. Just make sure your carryon is legal size they seem to be getting pickier on that.

I thought as much. I just don't want to end up checking anything. Thanks all.

We've done carry on only trips and I had a smaller size backpack as my personal item and a regulation size suitcase for my carry on. Never had any problems.

I have a smaller bag I can use as a extra. I think just to be safe I'll pack the backpack.

You should be fine with both pieces for your carryon. Backpacks shoule be considered as your personal item because they can fit under your seat. I just doubled checked with a friend of mine that works for Continental and that's what she said. :D

I'm with Lexi if it fits under the seat ya should be ok. We've flown just about every other airline other than Continental and never had any problem. The one bag takes up all the space underneath, always been fine.
