President Obama joins Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Jimmy Carter as the fourth US President to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
I join JT in applause.

Yep.
Ya know, we don't even need to post anything anymore, since we are all thinking the exact same thing. Must be some kind of forum telepathy.

Agreed. Congrats to the president. I did come across an interesting article about the Nobel Peace Prize for those will immediately go to "The chosen one didn't earn it."
From the article: Common Misconceptions about the Nobel Peace Prize.
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/art ... gD9B7HDR80
Myth: The prize is awarded to recognize efforts for peace, human rights and democracy only after they have proven successful.
More often, the prize is awarded to encourage those who receive it to see the effort through, sometimes at critical moments.
So again, Mr. President, congratulations.

I'll take a shot:
Tom Mc Coy put it best in his comment! It's like awarding a Harvard degree to a five year old on his 12th day of kindergarten. If the Nobel Peace committe still had any credibility at all, it's totally gone now. Tune in for the jokes!!!

And DaveS007 wins the prize!
(the "hijack" prize...certainly not the Peace Prize as this thread will eventually demonstrate)

This thread makes me think of a popular bumper sticker in the VI. It says 'Positive is how i live'. I will take that approach and congratulate President Obama for a huge honor that he will carry for the rest of his life. I hope it motivates him even more to keep working towards peace and human rights. So far I think he is on the right track.
