While dreaming my way through the latest issue of Caribbean Travel & Life, I came upon a photo in the photo contest that looked familiar. The winning photograph of the nature category on page 69 is of an octopus. Stunning, but I think it was posted here first? Am I right? Do we have a winner on this board?

Don't recall that exact pic but if I guessed anyone it would be Liamsaunt she sees more octupi than anyone on this board. She has posted some good ones on here. I have yet to see one on St John not for lack of water time thats for sure. Anyways that is an awesome pic. Also loved the one where ya look threw the shipwreck and see the boat on the water. Always think about sending in a couple pics to that contest and never do.

I got an email from someone that is not on the forum anymore that said I won the nature category. Can anyone confirm, because I have not heard from the magazine! What did I win, anyway?? Here is the picture I submitted:

Yes that's it! I knew I had seen it before. Liamsaunt, you won first place in the nature category! Congratulations! It's a wonderful photograph.

It appears twice in the magazine, once on page 66 and then on 69 with your name and hometown. Great job!

YAY! Thank you for confirming!! :D

I have to go find a copy of the magazine, and I need to send a copy of the picture to Captain Phil, since he showed me how to find octopi. If anyone has his email address, please pm me.

Congratulations on your photo! I have had your octupus pic as my screen saver for 2 months and everyone at work wants to know what magazine I downloaded from. When I tell them it was an underwater photo from STJ, they are amazed...you go, girl, amazing picture. The range of colors are so vivid and distinct!

Way to go Liamsaunt. That is definetly worth the first place spot. Heck I think National Geographic would use that pic. That octupus must have been trying to blend with the Carribean blue water amazing how they can change colors. I bet you will be framing that pic if ya haven't allready. So what is the secret in spotting those suckers. I looked and looked this time to no avail, seen alot of puffers in my search though.
