Soooo excited to be planning our 2nd trip to St John!! First trip was in April '08 with a villa on Gift Hill enjoying the sunsets on the deck. We "got it" the first trip and can't wait to share it with our kids.
So, we will be bringing our 13 & 18yr old sons with us, last week in Feb 2010. We plan on grilling in the evenings while enjoying a pool, hot tub & hopefully sunsets but I'm not exactly sure on some areas of the island as far as having a somewhat warm pool and not too windy this time of year. Thought about trying Coral Bay area but not sure if I can give up the sunsets. (Painkillers prevent sunrise watching!) Any advice on Bordeaux Mt,Mamey Peak,Upper Carolina,Chocolate Hole,Coral Bay areas?
I was so prepared for our first trip, which was a surprise for my husband, because of this forum. I really appreciate all of your knowledge and time!!!

We stayed on Bordeaux Mt in May and the pool was really cold. In fact we never used it at all. The weather that week was windy and rainy . We never got to enjoy the outside spaces of the house. May I recommend One Particular Harbour. The pool was heated and we spent a great deal of time enjoying it and the wonderful views. I am thinking about Gift Hill for the sunset next time, always looking for that perfect villa.

I'd consider the South Shore, Maria Bluff, Contant Point areas for February. The sun is setting farther South that time of year so you'll have great sunset views. Plus the sun will help to warm the pool. The end of January last year our pool was good, a little chilly but bearable. We were off of South Shore Rd, high Chocolate Hole area. It got sun all day.

Plus you're closer to town....important to teenagers I bet!

Happy Planning :D

Since you said you were interested in Coral Bay I'm just making sure you're aware that Chocolate Hole is right outside of Cruz Bay :)
