Any recent experience with Samuel's Cottages?

Looks like Samuel's will be the low-budget lodging of choice for our Oct trip. I've never stayed there and the most recent review is from 2007. We are booked in Cottage #1. I am hoping for basic, clean, and convenient...anyone have any insight?

Thanks!

Walking by in April they looked well taken care of. Reviews from 2008 on TA are good.

So, I looked them up and could not find a price. How much are they?

Its currently $600/week + tax or $100/night if you stay more or less than a week. This is the October rate that I'm paying, anyway.

And don't worry Minde- the Costa Rica TR is almost finished. Hope to post tomorrow night.

Looking forward to your opinion on the cottages when you return.

As a solo traveller, $100/night is in my range. Beats packing the tent to Cinnamon Bay.

I may be the last post on this subject. The last time we visited S.T.J. we stayed there.Hot showers, good view and air cond. in the bedroom.Clean and a great bargan! Rhonda who posts from time to time just came back from S.T.J. and stayed @ #3.I think this is the best cottage to get,but all are good. Here's a pic of #2.Number 3 is to the right and #1 is out of the pic and closest to the road.ParafinsImage

We have stayed at Samuel Cottages the last 4 years, including two weeks last month. It is clean & the owners are very nice. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the input, everyone!

Hey Brenda- How was your stay at Cinnamon last year? Did I miss your TR?

I'm still looking for pictures of the inside! I e-mailed them a while back and they don't even have any! I'd love to stay there one day but if anyone has pics of the inside of the cottages that would be great!

parafins has posted interior shots before and has one in his photo album.

Most folks on island are not so email savvy. I did a quick search and came up with:

Sun let us know what ya think. We walked in and checked out the property last week, outside was well kept. They are a contender for another cheap trip down.

Cinnamon was good in February/09 but not as great as April/08. Too many frickin sand fleas last trip (or whatever they were). I'm still wearing the scars some 7 months later. Setting up tent 1/2 hour before dark in a downpour (not a simple rainfall but a torrent) was no fun either. Hence my booking a tent cottage for first and last night for my March/10 trip. But can't complain about getting the best site they offer (IMO)about 100 steps from the beach.

I haven't posted a trip report for any trip. I'm not good at remembering details even a day or two after the fact. Maybe I'll try harder this next trip.

Curious as to how far a walk Samuel's cottages are to town.
