You don't need a passport to travel to the USVI but you will need one if you decide to do any excursions to the British Virgin Islands.

No Passport needed but do bring ID for when returning to the States - Drivers License and Birth Certificate (although the BC might not be needed depending on the Customs and Immigration officer that you get upon your return so better to be safe than sorry  )

If you are leaving from the USA to STJ - no passport needed - where are you departing from?

I asked a customs guys the passport question. And he said you can come down easily. But going back you can lose a lot of time at the airport before your flight if you don't have one. (Your flight will leave without you.) I don't want to say "chances are you'll be fine" because that's just not how it works sometimes!

I looked up the airport code - it is for Buffalo/Niagra Airport - Although I am assuming US citizen - not Canadian.
