So......we are planning a series of trips for next year....1 family gathering trip (the kind that all gather and you just suck it up and go and hope for the best).....and I turn 40 at the end of next year (more on that later....LOL) and it is our 10 year anniversary next summer too!

So.....trying to convince hubby to use 'miles" for a trip in April...but he's deadset against using more than 35K per person.....he thinks we should do something else. So I was thinking.....(prolly a bad idea) that if we use miles for 1/2 the trip...at 30K per person, then the one way tickets are "reasonable".....AND DIRECT from Boston, which is HUGE!

So, before I even give him this option.....I am thinking we could stay at Cruz Views for about 200 per night.....right? Family of 4.....week of 4/18/2010......to 4/25......anything else out there that I am not thinking of? We did the cinammon bay thing and really don't want to do it again.....mayo is along the same lines......need toilets....and tv for the kids! LOL......

Thanks for helping me brainstorm "the proposal" to hubby...what would you do? half the miles/half the airfare?

oh...I am hoping for a getaway this summer to st john with JUST the hubby....for our 10 year.....doesn't have to be a week....just has to be without kids! LOL

You really love St. John! I know how you feel about trying to plan the next trip or two, but my gut feeling is focus on one trip at a time!
If it were me, (and I'm surely not you)- if my kids have already been to STJ a time or two or 4, I would forget the family trip again and focus on your anniversary trip or 40th b-day trip! Use your miles and find a cozy little cottage w/hot tub for just the 2 of you~
Someone on this site said that going to St. John with your spouse each year is like "Marriage Insurance"

Why not give BJ a call at St John Properties and see if there is anything available at Sunset Ridge. Each unit is two buildings; a main suite for you & hubby and upstairs in the other building for the kids. I'm thinking close to the same price as Cruz Views give or take a few hundred, nice pool, killer view of St Thomas from the pool, basic cable package, two bathrooms.

LOL...yes we do love st john! Kids have been 4+ times now.....we tend to like that for a family vacation, but for us, "it's easy"....and familiar....and all that. Our kids are such beach and pool kids, that for us, if we can find a way, we do it!

As for the 40th (it isn't till NEXT december...but I plan on milkin' in for the year! LOL)...and our anniversary is in July of next year. I VERY much would like to get away with just him...and knowing that we can use some miles for the just the 2 of us quite easily in the summer is enticing! We probably won't do a whole week away but a nice long weekend......would be AWESOME!
