"Rum Makes You Dumb" - Part VI - The Hangover
Posted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 5:00 pm
Tuesday, Aug 11 – Day Seven – Drink Count (7 - not bad for a hangover) – Diversions from my uber-itinerary – 3
So the uber-itinerary called for 2 beaches today (Secret Harbor and Sapphire). Seeing as we awoke at 9:00 (finally slept late), and seeing as none of us were very motivated today
, a quick decision was made to hang by the pool. So I root through our stuff from yesterday, as it was all in the entryway exactly how we left it last night. Looking through stuff, can’t…seem…to…find…
THE DISPOSABLE CAMERA. WHICH HAS PICS OF ME AND HUBS JUMPING FROM THE WILLIE T IN NOT A VERY FLATTERING ANGLE! Rum Makes You Dumb………GRAND FINALE!
Call “cherries” in a panic. Do you have it??? NO. Email honeymooners. Do you have it??? NO. Email Capn John. Do you have it??? Will look. Oh God. I remember laying it down on the 2nd floor while I jumped at the Willie T. But I don’t remember grabbing it on the way back
! Visions of myself on various porn sites dance through my pounding head. This can’t be!! Honeymooners remember seeing the camera after the Willie T. Perhaps there is a God.
On that note, we drag ourselves to the pool for the day. I paid $10 for a float and pretty much did that all day. Here is a glimpse of what the folks at the pool had to look at all day courtesy of the Willie T
, not that I am a person who would usually show my backside to the public…

So despite the fact that the entire of the pool area is looking at hubs and “Mr. Cherry” with evil eyes as obvious wife-beaters, we have a great day in the sun. I do feel a bit guilty for “wasting” the day at the pool since there are so many beaches to see. But so be it.

Around 2:30 we decide to hit Charlotte for some shopping. Again, duh, it is HOT
. So there’s only one obvious solution - - the Greenhouse for a little ocean breeze and their famous two-for-one happy hour!
So I order 1 (well,2) glasses of chard and then 1 (again 2 for one) glasses of pinot noir. Hair of the dog, you know
. Also order nachos and calamari for a little snack.

We made friends with the waitress who, of course, loves it in the VI.

Then we decide to head off to Indigo (now renamed to something else, can’t remember what) at Magens Point Resort since we missed this on the uber-itinerary on Day 1
. We get ALL the way there and, of course, they don’t have the full menu available tonight
so we head off again for Mim’s Seaside Bistro (which was recommended by the concierge) near Bolongo Bay. This place has a beautiful view and pretty good food as well. I had steak au poivre. We split a bottle of Mark West pinot noir. Lovely. After a nice dinner, we head back to our patio to have one last look at the starry night above the rolling ocean waves of STT. And polish off the bottle of pinot that we purchased at Pueblo
. We talk of retirement plans here, or at least the next trip with the kids (since they are both pissed at us for not taking them this time
). We head off to a pleasant night’s sleep in the goose down comforter of the Marriott bed (a/c turned to 69° so we can enjoy
).
Tomorrow, we head back to St. Louis on a 3:45 flight. But at least we can lounge by the pool for another ½ day, as the uber-itinerary states
!
