Wife and I are hosting our 5th annual Caribbean Party this Saturday - our first in our new home!

I make Seafood Stew (tomato base with peppers, onions, celery, mild italian sausage, shrimp, scallops, whitefish, and various spices .... mmmmmmmm), Jerk Chicken Wings, and Coconut Shrimp.

Besides all of the great conversations, we also play our style of Caribbean Horse Racing. We have actual stick horses, get 6 players (who donate $2 each to enter), roll 3 dice and call out the numbers. Each time your number is called, you get to take 1 step forward - winner is first to go 10 steps. This is the cruise ship horse racing game - just customized for our party!

Lots of work, but we get to share our island photos, stories, and a great time with our family and friends.

So - if you're in Richmond, Kentucky this Saturday - drop on by - just follow the sound of Steel Drums and the familiar aroma of the Rum River flowing freely!

Oh that sounds like a great time and your menu looks yummy. It's always fun to share our "island life" and our love of the islands with everyone we know, isn't it?

We also host a party every year geared toward the islands. It is called Siesta Sunday and is always on Labor Day weekend on sunday of course. Got a multi-color caribbean bar and some good island music with contest such as best island wear, horse shoes tournament, and more.

Have fun at your party!

I'll try to download some this week. Had an awesome time. Had 55 guests attend. We ran 4 Caribbean Horse Races, spent some time visiting, then conducted a pretty wild "belly flop" contest.

Lots of work getting ready and cleaning-up but well worth it.

KY Girl - you'll have to attend next year!
