It looks like if I am going to STJ this year I will be going alone (something I'm not too happy about). Any suggestions?

When are you going? There is bound to be someone on this forum that will be there when you are.

I'll be going sometime between 12/16 and 1/16 as that is when I have break from grad school. I tend to get bored quickly if I'm alone. You know, when you see the guy on the beach with the paper pirate hat on and you turn to make a comment on it and there is no one there, it is a bummer. I've asked friends. I've even asked co-workers. I can't seem to talk anybody into going. I've even sent them pictures from my last trip and it hasn't worked.

You aren't asking the right people if the pictures don't sway them! I hope you can hook up with someone here on the forum!

Get a forum trip organized. That's what SOTB is.....a bunch of women whose husbands can't or won't go as often as we want. If you ask, they will come. It sounds scary, but we've had the best time and made life long friends.

Actually, that's what I did in Nov. when I went to the islands. I went with women that I met online. I was fortunate that it worked out. This time I can't make the trip with them because of my schedule.

Maybe you should start over and post your age requirements (we could be your mother :( ), dates, and other requirements, and see what you get. I know it's much harder with young adults your age. They tend to not have the $$ to spend for vacation, but if you can get one or two, it could be wonderful. There are so many great places to stay that aren't expensive.

Thanks for considering me a young adult! I think I'll be able to avoid my annual mid-life crisis this year.
I'm 41. Age isn't an issue as much as attitude. I don't like to plan my time on island too much. I like to take each day as it comes. Warning, I do smoke and drink. So my companions would need to be flexible and tolerant. I would go into my likes and dislikes but I think that would look almost like an online dating service.

What is SOTB?

SOTB is (what used to be) Six on the Beach. It is a trip of what started out with 6 lady forumites who wanted to go to St. John together. The number has been growing each year at it looks like they always have a great time, splitting the cost of a villa, scuba diving, charter boat trips and just hanging at the beaches for a week.
I have always wanted to go but I have a jealous hubby that thinks I can only go with him each year!! Someday though. . .
Check with Cypressgirl for more info about SOTB!

Chris, I wish I had the vacation dollars to join you! I could be your older sister. Smoking and drinking is A OK with me. Good luck, I bet you will find a good traveling companion!

Hello, young Miss!
I SO wish you could join us this November!!!
If it came down to it, I'm pretty sure I'd go solo. Interesting travel dynamic, I'm thinkin'.
Amy & I miss you, and hope to put another get-together for us forumites in the Philly area together again this fall/winter.

Hi there!
Hope you and Amy are doing great! Miss you both. I was thinking that it is soon time for another get-together. If I could somehow lie to my professor November would not be a problem. However, he knows that whenever I am not available for a week I'm in STJ. I may have actually solved my travel dilemma, but I'm not entirely sure.If I have, I may not be able to get together at the end of December. Do you mind me asking when you will be there in November?
