Reef Bay Hike with Tevas?

Okie Dokie! I am going to do the Reef Bay hike this time when we are on STJ in Oct. I have always wanted to do it but never got around to it. Part of the reason we haven't done it is when reading the national park info it says you need to have hiking shoes and not aqua socks or sandals. Most of the time I only take my tevas. For those of you that have done the hike can you please let me know if tevas would be ok or do I need to bring hiking boots/shoes? I appreciate any info I can get regarding the hike. Thanks in advance!

P.S. We've done the Cinammon Bay Trail and also the Peace hill trail and a few treks to the beaches but that's about it. I'm not a hiking type person I'm more of a beach bum!

You will be fine in those - the terrain is almost the same as Ciamon Bay Trail :)

Hi Tam-MO,
We did the reef bay hike last year with the park services (so only down hill and then the boat trip back to CruzBay) and wore our Tevas. We had no problem - Nice hike.
Have a great trip!

Unless there has been major rain then you'll be fine. I used to bring my hiking boots, but they are dead weight unless you want to go bushwhacking.

Cheers, RickG

Thanks everyone for your replies. I feel better.
Onthelake, we are also doing the same hike with the park services so it's nice to know that you guys did the same one and used your Tevas!
RickG, the only plan for me going bushwacking is if I'm going to a Bar to drink some Bushwackers! I'll wear my tevas for that too!
