St John wedding - reception ideas??

Hey all!
I need a St John wedding reception restaurant recommendation - wow, thats a lot of 'r's!
We are staying at a villa, but I dont think I want to go the catered villa reception deal. The wedding is on Halloween of this year and I am looking for a good restaurant, not extremely pricey and fun atmosphere - but heres the kicker - we are both vegetarian! The rest of the traveling party is not, but we would like a place that can accommodate a vegetarian palate - in a good way, not just mashed or baked potato and veggies. I mean, it is our wedding, and I would love a good meal!
Anne Marie Porter will be marrying us, and she recommended Rhumb Lines, and said they can more than likely give us some vegetarian options. I actually have never been there, but have read good reviews on this forum. Do any of you have any other suggestions for good places to go an after ceremony meal? I was hoping for mexican, as it is one of my favorites, but I am open to anything really!
Also, any ideas on music? Im wondering if I should find a fun reggae type band. I am not looking for a crazy, all out, expensive reception, but just some place we can go for a small fun dinner and maybe a dance with my new husband...

Can't really help with the vegetarian option but just a heads up that halloween is quite a party on STJ - Morgans Mango, Beach Bar and many others have huge costume parties with live music so depending on the time you want to eat and the number of guests I might suggest to start calling around to ask if they could seat you and what the food options might be.
Should you decide to go the catered villa way, I would suggest Mathayom at St John Catering http://www.stjohncatering.com/ as he is fabulous.

Rhumblines would be great...lots of options for all palates, a great setting and moderately priced by STJ standards!
It's one of our favorites! We've been there when part of the space was a reception and they had music...so they might be able to recommend a band!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I'm also getting married on St. John, but not until April. We are still torn between catered dinner at the villa or go to a restaurant, so I totally understand what you're going through!

Congratulations! We had our wedding reception at Rhumblines and it couldn't have been better. We loved everything - the atmosphere, the food (sooooo good), and the owners and staff were amazing. Can't say enough about them.

Thanks so much for all of the feeback!
I spoke with the owners of Rhumblines via email and they seem really nice and easy to work with, plus I noticed they have pad thai, so thats probably easily made vegetarian!
Any other restaurant thoughts send 'em my way!
Anyone eaten at Margarita Phil's? Ive ready some not so great reviews. We were hoping for mexican, but not sure if that place is adequate for a reception.

Rhumblines is such a great location and the food is great too.
I would not recommend Margarita Phils. The food is not that great and the location is not for a wedding at all, in my opinion.

I back up Xislandgirl, the food at Margarita Phils leaves a LOT to be desired. It's gloppy, and the space definitely does not have the atmosphere for a reception.
Have you looked at Paradiso? It's not one of my favorites, but its layout makes it easily able to handle a reception, and it's Italian, so obviously there's lots of vegetarian options.

Congratulations!
I had my reception at my villa in 2001. We had 33 guests and our caterer was awesome. We had an amazing time. How many people will be at your reception? Many of the villas today don't allow receptions so that may not be an option for you - unless you already asked.
I have also attended a wedding reception at ZoZos and I thought the villa version was more fun - we did a buffet so it was much less formal at the villa. If you go for the villa, Mathayom is great. If you go for the restaurant, I agree that Rhumblines is a great choice.

Based on my experiences with the staff at Margarita Phil's, I would never recommend them for any type of special occasion meal. But if you're already drunk and jonesin' for a margarita and some seafood enchiladas, you probably won't mind that your waitress is drinking on the job and just put her foot on your table.
Rhumb Lines would be good from what I have heard about it. But, if your villa can accommodate a meal for your entire group, I would say that would be a nice touch, especially on Halloween when there's already a lot of revelry and merriment going on.

Just to pile on with everyone here, Rhumblines is the clear choice for you - especially with the vegetarian option.
My buddy is getting married at Caneel in December, and he is having his rehearsal dinner at Rhumblines.
Another thing to consider would be Caneel. They have a number of different venues (for a small party, I'm thinking the ruins) depending on your party size, that are all breathtakingly beautiful. Once you factor in everything, the price doesn't need to be that much more than a restaurant.
You should give them a buzz just to check it out.
